Karate Queensland’s Covid competition safety protocols will be implemented for the upcoming Queensland Cup Tournament (see attached QUEENSLAND CUP Run Plan). For this tournament there is an additional requirement regarding the wearing of masks in and around the venue. The mask requirement has been included in the attached Run Plan and for clarity, is also listed below:
Spectators
Spectators aged 12 and over must wear a mask when they are NOT seated in the grandstand (ie when walking in or out/ using toilets/ lining up for food, or generally standing around). Masks can be removed when seated in the grandstand or when eating or drinking, but appropriate physical distancing protocols should be followed.
Athletes
As per spectators, however athletes are NOT required to wear masks when warming up or preparing for their division, when being marshalled for their division, when they are within the “field of play” area (within the cordoned off tatami area) leading up to, during and immediately after their division and during medal ceremonies.
Coaches
As for Spectators, however, to facilitate clear and rapid communication with athletes leading up to and during competition, masks are not required within the competition “field of play” area or in the warm-up area.
Referees, Judges, Ring Marshals, Table Officials and other Volunteers
As for Spectators, however, to facilitate clear and rapid communication with athletes and between officials leading up to and during competition, masks are not required within the competition “field of play” area or the warm-up area or when engaged in strenuous physical activity such as constructing the tatami mats and preparing the field of play for competition.
