QKA State Titles Update

The QKA will host the deferred Queensland State Karate Titles Tournament on Saturday May 30 and Sunday May 31.  This will replace the Queensland Open which was scheduled for these dates.

If restrictions are still in place for non-essential public gatherings, the QKA will stage the tournament in a manner that complies with these restrictions and reduces risk.

Our approach will be to schedule age groups into time blocks for both kata and kumite.  As an example, children 8,9,10 and 11 may be time blocked into Saturday morning 9:00 till 1:00, say.  Competitors in these age groups and their close family members as spectators, will be invited to the tournament during these hours for their events, after which they will be required to leave the venue. The venue will then be cleaned ready for the next age and time blocked competitor grouping and their spectators. The actual age groupings and time blocks will be determined closer to the event.

The QKA will also implement various “clean” protocols during events including mitt and mat cleaning.

The QKA will hold your entries and entry fees already paid in trust for the new tournament date.

Alternatively, if you would prefer a refund, please send an email to treasurer@karatequeensland.com.au stating the name of the person who made the payment, the date the payment was made and the payment amount. Also, you will need to provide the name(s) of the athlete(s) to which the payment related so that we can delete their event entries.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this difficult time.  We look forward to staging a somewhat unusual, but no doubt still a great 2020 Queensland State Titles.
